Sabian is a Canadian company and one of the largest in the world. The company was founded by Robert Zildjian and the word "Sabian" comes from the two first letters of the names of his three children Sally, Billy and Andy. Roberts father owned Zildjian cymbals, but after his father died in 1979 there was a family fued and Robert left to form Sabian Cymbals.
