Zildjian cymbals started out in 1623 by Avedis Zildjian in Istanbul, Avedis created an alloy using copper, tin and silver. into a sheet of metal that could make musical sounds without shattering, the process is a closely guarded secret. The Zildjian Company started manufacturing its cymbals as musical instruments in the 19th century.
